OPM icons gear up for #LoveThrowback2 The Repeat

Everything is set for the repeat of #LoveThrowback2 at Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on May 27, 2016.

The OPM icons of #LoveThrowback2 gear up for the repeat of their successful Valentine concert this Saturday, May 27, due to insistent public demand.

The show starts at 8:30 p.m. at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). #LoveThrowback2 will feature Ariel Rivera, Christian Bautista, Jinky Vidal, Joey G, Nina and Hajji Alejandro – all certified hitmakers whose songs became soundtrack of many love stories.

Certainly, #LoveTrowback2 is an all-out ‘hugot’ concert which everyone will enjoy. It will also strengthen the campaign to support Original Pilipino music. The show’s music royalties also call on their fans and concert goers to watch their show and reminisce the golden age of OPM.

Ariana Grande says sorry for the lives lost in her Manchester concert

“I am so so sorry. I don’t have words.”

Those were the only words Ariana Grande has to say after the deadly attack on her Manchester Concert.

American Pop Singer, Ariana Grande took to Twitter to apologize for the lives lost after a suicide bomber attacked her concert in England on Monday, May 22.

In her tweet, the pop singer said she is broken and that she’s very sorry for what had happened.

The concert held at the Manchester Arena in England was part of her Dangerous Woman Tour.

According to reports, at least 22 people were killed in the attack (including children) and some 55 people wounded. British government categorizes the bombing as terrorist attack making it the deadliest terror attack since the London bombing in 2005. Because of that Britain is currently its second-highest alert level of “severe”, meaning an attack by militants is considered highly likely.

Tawag ng Tanghalan 1st runner-up Sam Mangubat and finalist Marielle Montellano collaborate to cover one of the theme songs of hit Koreanovela “Goblin.”

Mangubat on Tueaday, May 16, posted on his Youtube channel his acoustic version of Goblin’s ‘Beautiful’ with Montellano. The video has since been viewed more than 350k times with more than 10k likes on it.

Before joining Tawag ng Tanghalan, Mangubat was already known in the Youtube community for his numerous covers of songs from various artists. Mangubat has covered the likes of Charlie Puth, Shawn Mendez, One Direction among others.

Mobbstarr keeps their music alive with latest single “Hold On”

Hip-hop trio Mobbstarr is keeping up with their musicality as they launch their latest single “Hold On”.

Written by W. Rosarioso, G. Enage, and H. Rosarioso and produced by Jameson Tenorio, ‘Hold On’ is  Mobbstarr’s latest single following ‘Heartbreaker’ in 2010.

Formed in 2002 as Dice and K9, the hip-hop duo then evolved from being a hip-hop sensation to successful hip-hop artists. After their phenomenal hit “Itsumo” which almost became the national anthem of rap-loving music fans, the hip-hop royalty came up with what is said to be their most expensive album, “Tha Journey” in 2006. In 2009 Hi-C also released her single entitled ‘Body Talk’. And from being the power couple in the hip-hop community, Mobbstarr’s evolution welcomes another member that will add firepower to their tracks, Garvie.

The trio is definitely gearing towards where music is bound to be, you could say years ahead each time they come out. Personifying the sound, the look, and the lifestyle.

Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell dies

American rocker and lead vocalist of the band Audioslave, Chris Cornell has died.

In a statement by his representative Brian Bumbery to the Associated press, he said Cornell died Wednesday night, May 17, in Detroit at the age of 52. Prior to his death, Cornell was able to perform in a show in the same city.

The cause of death was yet to be revealed as the death comes “sudden and unexpected” shocking his family members. The statement also said that the family will be working very closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause and asked for privacy.

Before joining Audioslave, Cornell was the front-man of the 90’s band Soundgarden which is part of the Pacific Northwestern grunge scene alongside Nirvana. The band was best known for the Grammy Award-winning singles ‘Black Hole Sun’ and ‘Spoonman’.

Aside from his band career, Cornell also made successful outing as a solo artist. He had a successful solo album in 1999, the Euphoria Morning. His last album Higher Truth released in 2015, even reached the US top 20. He also did tours with Linkin Park and Aerosmith and played Hyde Park in 2012.

Cornell was also credited for the song You Know My Name which was used as the official theme song of the James Bond movie Casino Royal in 2006.

After her successful outing at the 2013 World Championship of the Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, California where she bagged 2 medals, young singer Chacha Cañete is back with a viral performance of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song.”

The video of her live performance on Wish FM’s Bus has already gone viral attracting more than 604 thousand views since it was uploaded last May 7, 2017.

Her belting out of the song was praised by netizens with many showing admiration at how from being a child star in ABS-CBN’s kiddie gag show and a little kid in different TV commercials she is now a grown up kid with great singing talent.

Ariana Grande heading back to Manila in August

American pop star Ariana Grande is set to return to the Philippines in August for a concert.

After Ed Sheeran, another international pop star is coming back to the country to do a show, Ariana Grande.

MMI Live on their Twitter account, announced on Thursday, May 11, that Ariana will be back to do a concert in the Philippines to be held on August 21, 2017, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The concert will be part of Ariana’s “Dangerous Woman World Tour.”

Ariana’s last concert in the country was held in 2015. She is well known for her hit songs “Break Free,” “Problem,” and “Bang Bang.”

Ticket sales and other concert details are yet to be announced.

Ed Sheeran is coming back to Manila in November

English singer-song writer Ed Sheeran is set to have a Philippine comeback this November 2017.

As announced on his website, his Manila concert will be on November 7, 2017, as part of the additional shows for his Asian Tour.

Sheeran is a big hit in the country following the massive success of his song “Thinking Out Loud” which became almost a “national anthem” of every music-loving Filipinos. The huge success of his first Philippine concert last 2015 at the Mall of Asia Arena proved how popular he is and his songs in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, exact concert details and ticket sales are yet to be announced.

Other dates and cities which are part of his Asian tour include, Taipei, Taiwan (October 22), Osaka, Japan (October 25), Seoul, South Korea (October TBA), Tokyo, Japan (October 31 &  November 1), Hongkong (November 4 & 5), Jakarta, Indonesia (November TBA), Singapore Indoor Stadium, Singapore (November 11), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (November 14), Bangkok, Thailand (November 16), Mumbai, India (November 19), and Dubai (November 23).

Pino G emerges with new single “Pwede Bang Ikaw Na Lang”

After winning at the MTV Philippines music content, Emerge, with the group DRP, Pino G is emerging to be one one the most prolific R&B musician in the country. From dropping single after single which has caught not only the local audience but international attention, Pino G is off to another hit, his latest single “Pwede Bang Ikaw Na Lang.”

Pino G is currently promoting his new single “Pwede Bang Ikaw Na Lang,” a song that speaks of a love that cannot be left alone. It speaks of a universal longing for someone that got away or someone who long what seemed you cannot have.

Written and produced by Pino G himself, the song is part of his latest album “Taurus” under Polyeast Records.

Born as Gyran Mondejar, Pino G has been in the fore front of the independent local hip-hop scene for many years now. He started his career as the founder of DirtyRoom Productions – making music alongside new hip-hop group DRP.

Aside from Tauraus, Pino G has released 5 independent albums. GYRAN in 2007, 30 Minute Album: It’s Crunchtime in October 2010, 24 Hour HeartBreak in November 2010, The Mixtape GLORIA in 2013 and an instrumental album A Long And Hot Journey in March 2016.

In 2014, Pino G’s song “Misteryosa” won Best Hiphop Song at the VMA Music Awards in Malaysia.

He has also worked with brands such as Fuma, Forever Living, Downy Philippines for his song-writing talents and even produced the theme song for Coastal Training by DuPont.

Pino G has also written songs for PARD (a singing group composed of Bubble Gang Comedians);”Kwek Kwek Song” and “Hug”.

Morissette Amon joins Michael Bolton as co-host of “Bolt Of Talent”

Kapamilya singer and one of ASAP’s Birit Queens, Morissette Amon was chosen to co-host Michael Bolton’s “Bolt of Talent”

On her Instagram account, Amon shared a photo of her with Bolton taken at Luneta Park where they spent their first day of filming the upcoming talent show.

Morissette is set to join Michael Bolton as his co-host in the upcoming Star World’s talent show, “Bolt Of Talent.”

According to Bolton’s website, Bolt of Talent is an original new series aimed at discovering gifted singers all around Asia with the winner getting a dream record deal and a chance to join Michael Bolton on his world tour.

For over seven weeks, the talent contest will travel to four major cities in Asia: Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Manila, and Bangkok. Michael Bolton will then choose four finalists to reinvent, rearrange and re-create a range of his hits and then one local artist/superstar from each city will Bolton to choose a winner.

Meanwhile, Morissette started her career after being part of the first season of ABS-CBN’s The Voice of the Philippines. She later joined ASAP’s Birit Queens together with other Kapamilya belters, Angeline Quinto, Jona Viray, and Klarisse De Guzman.

On her part, Morissette said she was very thankful to Star World and Fox for the big opportunity they’ve given her and that she’s looking forward to the whole experience.

No details yet on the exact airing of this latest reality talent search to be telecast over at Star World.
