Did you ever imagine Selena appearing in High School Musical? Apparently so did the studio execs. She revealed in an interview with New York Daily News in 2008 that it was offered to her. As we all know by now, the singer turned it down, wanted to challenge herself as an actress sought out more mature and off the beaten path roles for her.

7. Ambassador of Goodwill

In 2009, the then 17-year-old Selena would take on one of the biggest responsibilities of her life. A U.N. ambassador. The announcement came from the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, making her the youngest ambassador in the history of the organization.


8. Demilena

Selena and Demi Lovato go way back. Like Youtube way back. The two had a short-lived Youtube series called “The Demi and Selena Show.” And while the web show was brief, it produced two of the biggest pop stars of their generation

9. Before Mickey, there was Barney

Fans may remember Selena from her stint with Disney’s “Wizards of Waverly Place,” she first appeared in “Barney and Friends” in 2002. Gomez recalls in an interview with People magazine in 2008 how she was very shy when she was little. She added that she had hard time figuring where the camera was and how to do her blocking. She credits the show that she learned everything by being on it.

Aside from appearing in films, Selena is known to lend her voice on the different animated films. She is widely regarded as a talented voice actress who voice several animated characters from movies like “Horton Hears a Who!” the “Arthur” animated franchise and “Hotel Transylvania.”
