ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra’s “Spotlight Series” sets its last concert featuring Richard Bamping this September 20 at the BDO Francisco Santiago Hall.
Richard Bamping is the Principal Cellist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Prior to being part of the Hong Kong Philharmonic (for the past 20 years), he has made a name for himself as one of the best cellists and leading instrumentalists of chamber music, having toured with many chamber music ensembles across the United Kingdom, Europe and USA. He is also one of the founding members of the Hong Kong String Quartet, and is considered as one of the busiest session recording artist in Hong Kong.
The program’s featured pieces are Elgar’s Cello Concerto and Brahms’ Tragic Overture and Symphony no. 1.
Richard Bamping will be seen playing cello made by Andrea Guarneri in the year 1674, one of the only 8 surviving of his works.
