Both from New York, Alex Goot and the band Against the Current have made a huge fan base from NY to all around the World Wide Web. And from there, their Filipino fans will surely get pumped up as they make their way here in the Philippines for their first ever concert.
If you are a fan of their amazing covers, or their equally amazing original songs (or both!), then make sure you mark that calendar on August 30, 8pm, for their one night concert at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater), Roxas Blvd., Pasay City.
Alexander George Gut (also known as Alex Goot) is a singer-songwriter and a multi-instrumentalist from New York who began recording music way back in 2004 at the age of 16. Goot had his first studio album released entitled In Your Atmospheremade possible by his fans through a KickStarter campaign.
Since 2010, he has been producing videos on his YouTube channel GootMusic which currently has over 1.8 million subscribers. Goot has made several cover videos in collaboration with other artists such as Kurt Hugo Schneider and Sam Tsui (who recently held a concert in Manila), We Are in the Crowd, and Against the Current.
This YouTube hit did not only made a scene in the online world but in Music Awards as well as he won Best Fan Cover at the 2011 MTV Music Awards for Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me” ,and was nominated Best Original Song at the 3rd Steamy Awards last 2013 with his song “Lightning”.
Together with Alex Goot, the pop/rock band Against the Current will also cover your heart and fill your senses with feel-good music. Chrissy Costanza (Lead vocals), Dan Gow (Vocals/Guitar), Jeremy Rompala (Guitar), Joe Simmons (Bass), and Will Ferri (Drums) make up the band that goes against the mainstream flow of the international music industry.
The band had just been writing songs and doing covers until “Good Time”. It was then in 2012 that Against the Current went big on YouTube when they did collaboration with Alex Goot for Owl City ft. Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Good Time”, which now has more than 16 million views. The band have other collaborations with Alex Goot including Justin Bieber and Nicky Minaj’s “Beauty and a Beat”, Zedd’s “Find You”, Nickelback’s “Photograph”, among others.
