The Chainsmokers Live in Manila: Songs to Expect to be Played

New York DJ duo Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, better known as The Chainsmokers, quickly skyrocketed to fame last 2014 after releasing their first big hit -SELFIE. It might have helped that the infamous lines “but first, let me take a selfie” was uttered by international car show model and FHM babe Trinity Dang. It was also last 2014 when the DJ duo brought their #SELFIE tour to Manila, having performed at the now-defunct Republiq club. Fast forward to 2016 and this time, The Chainsmokers will be headlining their first major show in Manila, at the Mall of Asia arena, no less.

And to get you all prepped to be not just dancing but singing along, these are a few songs that for sure will be in their playlist:

  1. SELFIE – Duh. Being their breakthrough hit, this one for sure they will not miss to play. Heck they might even just take a crowd selfie while at it. Wouldn’t that be apt.
  1. KANYE – Mr. West can’t ever say he made these bitches famous. Nah uh. This track samples a bit of Selfie as well and is about wanting to be Kanye. Now whether that is true or not, is entirely up to you.
  1. CLOSER (featuring Halsey) – This is the latest hit from the DJ duo with references to doing things at the backseat of a Rover and a mention of Blink 182 too. 4 million views after barely 3 days of lyric video release. If that song is not phenomenal, I don’t know what else you could call it.
  1. SPLIT (ONLY U) – This track is a collab with one of the world’s top DJs, Tiesto. While the beats are more of Tiesto’s sound, The Chainsmokers managed to inject their own into the song. And hey, they managed to “kidnap” Tiesto in the music video so how could this not be fun?
  1. DON’T LET ME DOWN (featuring Daya) – This is by far their highest-charting hit, having peaked at Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. This could be attributed to the mainstream pop appeal of the song because of Daya, combined with the beats that The Chainsmokers imbued to the track.
  1. ROSES – Undoubtedly their most played hit, the track can be heard at almost every DJ’s set at various music festivals both here and abroad. It may likely be the closing song as well but we’ll see.

These are just a few of their hits that they will most certainly play. But these wouldn’t be all. For sure it will be hours of infectious beats, sounds, music. The Chainsmokers Live in Manila will be on August 19, 2016. Front-act for the DJ duo are two of the finest female DJs in the land – Deuce Manila (Patty Tiu) and Katsy Lee.

Tickets are available at and at all SM Tickets outlet nationwide.
