Jack Daniel’s Philippines played host to some of the best local indie acts last May 30 as JD IndieFest showcased 24 bands alternating between two stages at Capitol Commons in Pasig City.
I’ve become used to mainstream rock music but hearing the featured bands play at the JD IndieFest, I must say that their level of performance did not disappoint. The indie bands had their own crowd, their own following. I laid witness as bands like Imelda, Curbside, Flying Ipis, Peso Movement and Reklamo rocked the two stages.
And as promised, the Top Three Band finalists from last year’s JD Indiefest, namely Mr. Bone and the Boneyard Circus, Kelevra, and Blue Boy Bites Back also brought their energy and their magic onstage.
I can’t help myself but reminisce my high school days when I was listening to rock music. Much like others who were present in the event that were not familiar with some of the acts and the music they offered us, I felt myself captured, absorbed and willing to listen. This was another side of rock I find I can really enjoy.
Having been in the IndieFest, drinking Jack Daniel’s, and meeting new friends surely made this another experience I look forward to enjoying again. So thank you, Jack Daniel‘s!
