After being bashed on social media for her alleged allusion to AlDub in her controversial “kababawan” tweet, Lea Salonga took to Facebook to fully explain her side regarding the issue.
Okay lang sa akin ang kababawan, pero hanggang doon na lamang ba tayo? #NagtatanongLangPo

Lea has been the target of online bashing during the past days from AlDub fans for purportedly branding the AlDub craze as “kababawan.” Even Eat Bulaga’s veteran and pioneer host Joey de Leon took a swipe on Lea saying it’s close to impossible for people in showbiz not to be familiar with AlDub.
Ano masasabi nyo sa mga taga-shobiz na nagsasabi na HINDI sila pamilyar sa Aldub? Nagse-survey lang po. #ALDUBandPROUD

In a Facebook comment, Lea dissected point by point what her tweet was really all about. She said the tweet was nowhere about AlDub nor any other shows. It was just an unfortunate coincidence and that she regretted not knowing about the noontime show clash happening at that time.
Lea also shared, even she has her own brand of kababawan like laughing on Super Mario Bros’ theme song so no way that she’s slamming anything or anyone about that particular tweet. She was just saddened when she read about Epi Quizon’s story on college students who approached him and asked why he was seated in the entire film not knowing that his character Apolinario Mabini is a paralytic. Lea said it’s appalling for students not to know basic details of their history, and that probably is where her tweet about kababawan came from. She said we can have fun all the time but we shouldn’t remain at that, “We need to aspire [to] much more than that.”
In closing she said she had no intention of hurting anybody regarding that tweet and that she regrets to know that what she thought was a harmless post struck a very sensitive nerve.
