If you have a TV or a radio, then you probably watched or heard a certain commercial and her voice. Yes, she is the voice behind McDonald’s “Hooray for Today” jingle.
Moira dela Torre entered mainstream consciousness when she joined the TV reality singing contest “The Voice of the Philippines Season 1.” With a soulful rendition of Bamboo’s “Hallelujah,” the 19-year old vocalist caught the attention of one of the show’s judges Apl de Ap of the Black Eyed Peas. She may not have won the show’s top prize but she definitely proved she has what it takes to be one of the most exciting OPM performers.
In her latest video uploaded on her Youtube channel last June 18, 2014, Moira again showcased her musical prowess. The music video is for the song “Don’t Say Goodbye,” a song she composed and written herself. According to her Facebook post, she was inspired to write the song after reading the book and watching the movie “The Fault in Our Stars”.
“So I wrote a song after reading the book and watching the movie cause i was too overwhelmed with emotion that I couldn’t let Augustus Waters go without writing a song for Hazel Grace… I’m sorry if you haven’t read the book yet, it’s just really sad. Hahaha I hope you like it!” – Moira
Full of heart and soul, Moira proves that she is not only up to impress her viewers but to express what the song wants to convey. Love the tone of her voice, listening to her is like listening to the sound of the ocean waves or the sound of a waterfall, very calm, relaxing and soothing. It can be compared to the voice of Sarah Mclachlan.
