Six local and four international DJs with more than 10 hours of music, and one massive neon and paint festival ensued over the weekend, the Vibrant Fest, held last June 18th at the Globe Circuit Events Ground.
The rave festival was kick started by youngling Rammy Bitong, followed by the consistent crazy fun “Those Damn Nerds.” The first half of local DJs set was then closed by Vinimal himself, Callum David.
For the second half, pioneer local DJs Marc Marasigan and Travis Monsod joined forces to throw some of their best beats and mixes. And as if that wasn’t awesome enough, MC Ron Thug hyped it all up. Thus, they called themselves MxMxM for that night.
Every ’90s kid’s Prince Cedie – Tom Taus – was next to have the crowd all up in arms. Bringing not only his mixes as a DJ but likewise plays percussions live too. And the last local DJ to spin, but definitely not the least, is DJane mag’s number 27 DJ in the world – The Queen Bee herself, Patty Tiu, also known as Deuce Manila. In her own words, it was “the most powerful set I have created so far”, and on point she was! Trance filled the air and showmanship was displayed with flair. There were hiphop dancers, contemporary dancers and even a poi dancer who joined in during the set. Kio Priest and Bea Valera lend their vocals as well. That set proved that local talents can very well rival international ones.
Meanwhile, international DJs set was kicked-off by Aussie DJ/Producer, Krunk. With his top 40 beats and a slew of house and techno got the crowd movin’ and groovin’. A sign of what was to come for the remainder of the night. It was followed by the duo of DJ STAS & Mathias Schell, who as individuals have already conquered the club scenes of Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan, among others. They are also known as the duo Rave Republic having headlined at It’s the Ship music festival, Ultra Music Festival (UMF) Korea and Illumi Nation.
One of Ukraine’s finest and undoubtedly hottest DJs, also happened to be the only femme fatale in the line-up of international DJs. DJ Juicy M, who is famed for her use of 4 CDJs got the crowd smiling, jumping, dancing and just plain raving. This was a much-awaited return for the female DJ after her Juicyland Manila stint at Solaire last 2014. And boy, I tell ya, she was still as stunning and as entertaining as ever.
Wrapping up the colorful night that was Vibrant Fest was Dutch DJ/Producer R3HAB. Signed under one of the more famed DJs – Afrojack’s Wall Recordings, R3hab started back in 2007 producing a track for Hardwell, yes, that once number DJ in the world Hardwell. He has likewise remixed some of pop world’s biggest hits from Madonna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, JLo, etc.
This festival had but one mantra: GO WILD WITH PAINT. And that, my friends, and plenty more… happened.
