The Philippine flag again proudly waves at the conclusion of the 2014 World Championships of the Performing Arts (WCOPA) held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Hollywood, California on July 19 as Lloyd Montebon wins the top prize of the competition.
Lloyd Montebon who hails from Davao City was named 2014 Junior Grand Champion Performer and Junior Grand Champion Vocalist of the World. Before going to WCOPA Lloyd is already an award winning performer in Davao having won the Talent Edge in Abreeza Mall and Grand Champion of Metro Davao Singing Association for three times.

In an Instagram post, 2005 Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World Jed Madela shares his happiness and pride with Montebon’s win. “Two years grand slam! Lloyd Montebon is the 2014 Junior Grand Champion Vocalist of the World and the 2014 Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World!!! Go Pinoy!!!” his post reads.
This is the 2nd year in a row that the Philippines is given the Grand Performer of the World award. In 2013, Aldeza dela Torre was also named Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World.
Meanwhile, another Philippine representative also wins the grand prize in the senior category. South Cotabato’s Xtreme Dancders (duo) gets the 2014 Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World.
WCOPA is the first and only international competition to find the best aspiring performers worldwide. It is often referred as the “Olympics of the Performing Arts.”
