RECAP: The Voice Kids 2 Grand Finals performances

After hurdling the Semis, The top 4 of The Voice Kids 2 has finally come to their final showdown.

Held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila Saturday, The Voice Kids 2 Top 4 young artists, Esang de Torres, Reynan Dal-anay, Elha Nympha and Sassa Dagdag sing their best to win and be named as the 2nd Grand Champion of The Voice Kids.

Before starting the competition, the night was opened by a production number featuring first season’s Top 4 Darlene, JK, Darren and Lyca with the season 2 grand finalists.

The first night of the finale was divided into 2 segments; “Duet with a Star” and the “Solo Upbeat Performance.”

During the first round, the 4 young artists were paired with Your Face Sounds Familiar host and judges, Billy Crawford, Gary V., Jed Madela and the Megastar Sharon Cuneta. Four duet performances which will

Reynan was the first to perform with Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano for the song “Babalik Ka Rin.” Elha followed together with the singing champion Jed Madela. The two showcased their belting powers with an OPM classic and Regine Velasquez hit “Narito.” After Elha was Esang and Billy Crawford who sang Bruno Mar’s friendship anthem “Count on Me.” Esang maintains her clear voice and ease on stage bringing good harmony and blending with her duet partner. Last but not the least was Sassa and the Megastar Sharon Cuneta. The two shared one of the most loved OPM ballads “Ikaw.”

After the Duets, Esang started the “Solo Upbeat” performances with Abba’s “Dancing Queen.” The performance again bares Esang’s strengths, her clarity and confidence on stage.

With her dismal performance in the first round, Sassa bounced back in the upbeat round, killing Nicki Minaj’s “Starships.” Consistent with Tagalog songs, Reynan entertains the audience with his version of Eraserheads “Toyang.”

But the the night’s shining moment belongs to Elha. Taking Mariah Carey’s “Emotions,” Elha draws loud cheers and standing ovation from the audience and her coach Bamboo as she flawlessly nailed the song with pitch perfect tone and unbelievable whistle.

Results night will be on Sunday August 30 together with the kids last performance in “The Big Ballad” round.
