Singer-songwriter and producer Shye has released her new single “Flower”, a song about unrequited love. Fans can stream the single here.
“People can be fickle and feelings change all the time – it’s easy to blame or doubt yourself,” Shye shares. “Some listeners might be able to relate to loving someone and desperately wanting to be their all, but the feelings are not always returned. I hope they do not doubt that they are worthy of love – I hope they remember that in the right environment, they can grow and bloom.“
On producing the track, she explains, “I really enjoy experimenting with new sounds. This song started off with a simple guitar melody that soon turned into a grunge track. The production process was pretty simple once I came up with a topline melody, and I used a synth pad to create a melancholic feel especially during the choruses.“
“Flower” follows her previous single “Safe” and last year’s EP ‘idk it’s complicated’. The EP saw Shye revisit her bedroom pop sound, touching on the complications of dealing with crushes and friendships, and finding the sweet spot where you feel you belong.
Currently, Shye is participating in Qing Nian Pai Ji Hua (青年派计划), a televised music competition in China.
