After the release of their first two singles from their album “Monodramatic”, Silent Sanctuary returns to their roots of bittersweet melodies with the latest track “Sa’Yo”. Two versions of the song appears in the album — the full band and the orchestral version.
The 4-minute song, according to songwriter and lead vocalist Sarkie Sarangay, was inspired by a friend’s story of being uncertain in love. “Yung lyrics nya kasi parang conversation lang ng dalawang tao na may feelings sa isa’t-isa pero hindi pa talaga nagkakaintindihan kung gusto ba talaga nila maging sila,” Sarkie shares.
Instead of a simple band performance video, the band had the idea of using dance choreography to illustrate the story of the song. Silent Sanctuary had help from their friends the SexBomb Girls in this. The band expresses their gratitude to Joyce Canimo, who danced the lead and Aira Bermudez who had a hand in the choreography. Kid Guevarra, who plays guitars for Tanya Markova and Dhruva Tara, directed the said music video.
The music video was launched on June 9, 2014 at 70’s Bistro where Ebe Dancel and Moonstar 88 also appeared to support the band. Silent Sanctuary’s cellist Anjo Inacay also proposed to his girlfriend at the said launch. Watch the video below.
