Six members of the Team Philippines have successfully made it to the Grand Finals of the 2015 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) contest in Los Angeles California.
Posted on their official Facebook page Thursdays July 16, WCOPA names 6 Pinoys as among this year’s finalists in the contest dubbed as the Olympics of the Performing Arts.
Congratulations to all of our Finalists! Please report to the Terrace Theater Lobby at 8am with CDs and clearance…
The 6 Pinoys who made it in the final cut of the competition are:
Sienna Chantelle Marie Holmes – Junior Models (Female)
Jona Marie Soquite – Junior Vocals
Hazel Joy Ortiz – Senior Models (Female)
Mike Mendoza – Senior Models (Male)
Y-Fi – Seniors Vocal Group
Jet Barrun – Senior Vocal
They will battle it out with 61 other finalists from different countries to get the top medals per category and the most coveted Grand Performer of the World awards.
The Philippines has a good track record in WCOPA having won the Senior and Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World awards in the last 2 years. In 2014, Xtreme Dancers and Lloyd Montebon won the Senior and Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World and in 2013 it was Beverly Caimen and Aldeza dela Torre who took home the top prize.
Philippines also holds the record for the most number of Grand Championship Performer of the World Awards at 10 titles since 2005. Jed Madela, the 1st Filipino to win the Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World in 2005 was also inducted in WCOPA’s Hall of Fame in 2013.
With the Philippines feat in WCOPA, can the 6 Pinoy finalists continue Team Philippines’ domination in WCOPA 2015?
