Music and charity combines, as members of Soundcloud Philippines lend their helping hands to the elders of St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Caridad, Cavite City last Saturday August 9.
Dubbed as “Musika at Saya para kina Lolo at Lola”, the group shared fun activities and gift-giving to the chosen beneficiaries of the parish. The event is made possible through the cooperation of Soundcloud Philippines, Soundstream FM and Helping Hands Organization.
Armed with musical instruments and donation packages, the group tirelessly worked to give the lolos and lolas entertainment and assistance they need. Aside from the usual conversation with the lolos and lolas about their life stories, a group singing competition was also held to further perk up the mood. The event organizers picked from the members of SCPhils and partnered with the elders as they choose the song that they will present.
From the six groups who joined, judges Iko Tan, Jerome Cleofas and DJ Xiano, gave the top prize to Lolo Eddie and Jayz Cruz who sang Wency Cornejo’s Hanggang.
After the announcement of winners, the group distributed wheelchairs, quad canes and other donation packages.
In his speech, DJ Xiano expressed happiness with the success of the event. He thanked fellow OFWs and friends who shared their blessings to make the event possible. He also shared, being an OFW requires sacrifice but knowing they were able to help the less fortunate make them more inspired to continue with this kind of activities.
The event was closed with a prayer of thanksgiving and guidance for future activities.
